1) List the ways that induction chemotherapy and concurrent
chemoradiotherapy impacts oncologic and functional outcomes
of patient with advanced head and neck cancer.
2) Compare the benefits and shortcomings of treating head and
neck cancer patients with radiation delivery methods such as
Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy or altered fractionation
approaches.
3) Critique the existing and potential roles of novel molecular
targeted agents in the treatment of head and neck cancer.
4) Explain the role of functional imaging modalities in pre
treatment staging and assessment of treatment response.
5) Describe the changing role of the surgeon in patients treated
with primarily non-surgical means.
6) Review the impact of new breakthroughs in surgical technology
including: 1) robotic surgery, 2) endoscopic approaches to the
neck and thyroid gland, 3) image guided treatment of skull base
neoplasms, 4) sentinel node mapping, 5) new reconstructive
approaches, 5) new powered instrumentation and hemostatc
devices.
B. Summarize emerging research breakthroughs that are helping us to better understand the pathogenesis of head and neck cancer that will translate into improvements in the diagnosis, prognostication, and treatment of the head and neck cancer patient, including:
1) Novel high throughput laboratory approaches to analyze tumors
and biofluids including whole genome sequencing, cDNA
microrrays, array CGH, SNP arrays and integrative genomics.
2) Animal models of head and neck cancer.

Corporate Support The American Head and Neck Society (AHNS) is the single largest organization in North America for the advancement of research and education in head and neck oncology. On July 21-25, 2012 we will present our quadrennial international conference, the 8th International Conference on Head and Neck Cancer, at the Metro Toronto Convention Center in downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Our international conference is an opportunity or companies to interface with the present and future leaders in the head and neck surgical field from around the globe. Your support and presence will reach a broad spectrum of health professionals who have an interest in head and neck cancer, including head and neck surgeons, otolaryngologists, plastic surgeons, dentists, radiation oncologists, pathologists, clinical investigators, and more.
Demonstrate your commitment to treating and rehabilitating head and neck cancer patients by supporting the 8th International Conference on Head and Neck Cancer. A full list of support and visibility opportunities are available now. Contact Noelle Somkin regarding your company's participation and support at 1-310-437-0559 ext. 114.
THANK YOU TO OUR CURRENT SUPPORTERS!
